Is it better to meditate in the morning?
Morning practice is associated with sticking with meditation for longer, though not with each session being more effective. In the analysis of 289,630 sessions, morning practitioners were 2.1 times as likely to reach their 150th session compared with evening practitioners. A smaller daytime advantage was also reported, though that estimate did not survive the study’s correction for multiple comparisons. This is observational data, so it cannot establish that the time of day causes the persistence. A plausible alternative explanation is that mornings are simply more protected from interruption for many people.
